MARISA MEYER
Managing Director
Marisa is the Founder and Managing Director of Meraki Capital. She is a structured financier with significant experience in banking and finance across Sub-Sahara Africa.
Marisa is a practicing attorney and notary of the High Court, South Africa.
From 2007 – 2013, Marisa was employed at the Standard Bank of South Africa and as a member of the Structured Finance team, she worked across a number of jurisdictions and was responsible for managing the preference share book of the bank as well as new product development in emerging markets.
In fulfilling her wish to focus more closely on the African continent, Marisa joined the AfrAsia Corporate Finance team as Head Specialised Finance in October 2013. She was appointed to the Managing Director of AfrAsia Corporate Finance on 1 July 2015 during which time she raised funds for corporate clients in the financial services sector, property sector and a number of diversified holding groups across Sub-Sahara Africa.
Marisa was awarded the Women Leadership Award by the African Leadership Forum in December 2015.
VIVIAN CHIGUMIRA
Vivian is an experienced corporate finance professional with over 15 years of experience in corporate finance advisory and investment analysis across Africa.
At Meraki, Vivian is involved in executing on transactions across Africa (South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Ghana, Tanzania, Namibia and Zimbabwe) in various sectors (Telecoms, hospitality, financial services, manufacturing, agro processing, FMCG, healthcare, mining and construction). The transactions include mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, Initial Public Offers and valuations.
Prior to joining Meraki Capital, Vivian was employed by Altree Capital, a Swiss-based pan African Investment Banking boutique where he had been since 2007.
EDUAN KAPP
Eduan is a seasoned lawyer and ex-investment banker with extensive transactional experience throughout Sub-Sahara Africa and other emerging markets. He has acted as an advisor to pan-African businesses, serving on the boards of multinational African companies.
Tasked with the development of both Japanese and non-Japanese business in the Europe, Middle East and African region for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in respect of both debt (from vanilla to structured and limited recourse funding) and equity investments, he subsequently headed the finance portfolio at a South African consulting firm and was a director at GEM during 2010 to 2012.
Eduan has been intricately involved in setting up and managing sub-Sahara African credit funds over the past 8 years with the majority of these funds incorporated in Mauritius.
He has been actively involved – be it in an origination, advisory, structuring or exit role – in more than 150 major transactions in emerging markets; with an aggregate deal size of approximately US$ 42bn across 29 countries in Africa and covers all major sectors, with transactional experience from cradle to grave. His experience also includes dealing with all aspects of insolvency from a contractual perspective, the efficacy and enforceability of specific security arrangements including multi-lender structures incorporating security SPV structures, and expertise in the insolvency implications of structured finance and related transactions.
Medicine Mavhondo
MEDICINE MAVHONDO
Medicine is a professional with over 15 years’ experience leading teams in corporate management, financial advisory services, financial technology and corporate finance.
He started his career with Citigroup a leading investment bank on Wall Street working in New York for the Global Structured Credit Products division and in London for the Commodities Trading desk.
Medicine has held senior management roles in agriculture conglomerates, an investment holding company, advisory, and financial technology companies.
At Meraki, Medicine focuses on originating transactions across the continent across various sectors.
